The apothecary says: "I'm not surprised at poor John's reluctance to swallow the pill, as one half the size, of the same strength, would be sufficient to reduce a constitution, twenty times as strong". Peel who is holding a large pill entitled: "Sliding scale" says: "I percieve your stomach is a little out of order, Mr. Bull; the fact is you eat too much bread. Now this pill I can strongly recommend in all cases of repletion, indigestion, ruination &c &c", John Bull replies: "What take that bolus, Sir Robert? If I do I'm a Dutchman." A man restraining Bull retorts: "Divide it into two, Bob! We must make him take it some way or other."
