About this work

Description

Mary holds a Bible in her left hand. Joseph is slumped in some straw. The rightmost shepherd has an animal fur skin, with head, draped over his head and back. The stable, apart the straw, is here transformed into a classical temple, with armless statues serving as pillars. An angel announces the event to the shepherds in the distance, who are surrounded by their lambs
