On same mount with one other watercolour with lettering "the Chocolate Nile", Wellcome Library catalogue no. 37463i
Part of a series of watercolours by Mrs. Alec-Tweedie consisting of views of the Nile and the various activities of local inhabitants. The view of Sennar on the Blue Nile has typwritten text label attached to the verso; this text refers to the region depicted as providing a lake for a projected dam to be built in 1925. The series of views may have been made while Mrs. Alec-Tweedie was part of a prospective survey undertaken before the building of the dam
