Photograph of an oil painting attributed to J. Bowring, possibly of Thomas Dowland (active 1790), botanist and student in astrology. The painting was acquired at auction from Robinson & Fisher on 23rd May 1912, Lot 163, and accessioned by the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum on 6th March 1931 (CC 5338).
