Description

Artzneybuch: von allerley künnstlich betwerten unnd nützlichen Recepten für mancherley züfelligen krannckheiten zusammen gebracht. Including a translation of `De passionibus mulierum' of Trotula by Silvester Hartlieb, and an abbreviated version of Ortolff von Baylerland's `Srtzneibuch', extracts from Albertus Magnus, and medical receipts, etc. On fol. 221 is a pen-drawn fortune-telling circular diagram. The first 21 ll. are unnumbered; these are followed by a foliation from I to 250 which is irregular; the last 28 ll. are not numbered. The original foliation is used for the list of contents which follows. On the veso of the last leaf is an inscription of three lines in capitals: Omnes: Gentes: Tres: Castes: Pates: Erfares: Hafursta: Pallustra: Genefrat: Bedi.

Ownership note

There are copious underlinings in red and blue pencil, marginal notes, etc. in purple ink by `Karl [Theodor] Messmer Chemiker' whose signature, dated 1880 at Immenstadt, appears on the first leaf. His library-stamp and a stamp containing his name and a crest have been impressed in several places throughout the book.
