On the left the Virgin holding the Christ Child stands in a sunburst within a cloud above the floor of the room. In the centre, the supplicant, a woman in a finely decorated dressing gown, kneels in prayer holding a pair of crutches. Above the bed on the right, a crucifix and a framed painting of two hearts, one the Immaculate heart of the Virgin of the seven sorrows, the other possibly the Sacred heart of Jesus
