Description

Advertisement for the British Electric Institute's (of 25 Holborn Viaduct, London) use of the 'Ajax' dry-cell battery's electricity to cure "all forms of weakness", nervousness, insomnia, neurasthenia, paralysis, neuralgia, locomotor ataxy, epilepsy, rheumatism, sciatica, lumbago, gout, dyspepsia, constipation, diarrhoea, liver and kidney troubles. This was probably a magazine insert. The front is an illustration of a seated, bare-shouldered Britannia holding a lily and a crown of laurels, flanked by 2 lions and a brazier, angels to one side, a view of the Crystal Palace and its fountains to the other. Text is titled: 'The effect of electricity on disease' and 'Electricity- the road to health'.
