Segment 1 The intertitles give the patient history. An x-ray of the patient's abdomen is shown. The patient's abdomen is seen. Anaesthetic begins to be administered. This is a lengthy process and the intertitles give detailed descriptions of the kind of anaesthetic used, and where injections are made. Segment 2 Anaesthetic injections continue to be made. The abdomen is opened and further injections are made. The anatomy of the area is described using labels and an illustration. Segment 3 The injections are finished and the surgery begins. The right gastro-epiplotic artery is divided between ligatures and the duodenum (part of small intestine) cleared.
