Physical description

1 volume 1 l. + 286 ff. + 1 l. 4to. 20 1/2 x 15 1/2 cm. Original stamped leather binding over oak boards, rebacked: both clasps wanting. Twelve leaves are probably missing. The lower part of fol. 61 has been torn away, a few margins are frayed, and the MS. has been slightly cropped in rebinding. Written by several contemproray hands in a rounded gothic script: initials, headings and paragraph marks in red. On fol. 60v is a rough pen-drawn circular diagram for finding the Dominical Letter, in red and green: similar figures were on the recto and verso of the next leaf but have been torn out. There are also three Calender Tables in red and black on fol. 62 and fol. 63r. An unnamed bookseller has paginated the MS. in ink 1-597 but a new pencilled foliation is used in the description below. There are original signatures in groups of 24 (a-z), but ff. 46-60 and ff. 139-68, as well as other leaves, have been bound in wrong. order.
