The following description was provided by James Gardiner: "The card is autographed by Stan Bennett, one of the original members of the ‘Splinters’ troupe of ex-servicemen, who, having gained experience acting in drag with WW1 concert parties, organised themselves into a commercial act and enjoyed great success performing at music hall well into the 1930s."
