Description

Photograph 1 is a large group photograph, mounted, of domestic staff in the Retreat garden, c 1890s. Photograph 2 shows four members of the domestic staff: Mary Ann Brown, Retreat cook (1872-1944) and three others. Photograph 3 is a group photograph of Retreat Matron, Miss Thomasson, and domestic staff outside the first Nurses’ Home, c 1900. Photograph 4 is a group photograph of domestic staff with the Matron, Miss Head, and the Housekeeper, Miss Smith, mid 1920s.
